Sophia Beckmon, a recent graduate of Oregon City High and an Illinois signee, won the women's long jump gold medal for the United States with a wind-aided effort of 21-11.50 (6.69m) in the fifth round at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-23 Championships at the National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica. Beckmon also joined forces with Inner Circle Track Club teammate and Lake Oswego High incoming senior Mia Brahe-Pedersen, as well as Georgia's Kaila Jackson and Central Florida's Rayniah Jones, to help the Americans secure victory in the 4x100-meter relay final in a meet-record 42.74, eclipsing the 2016 mark of 42.93 achieved by an American quartet in El Salvador.
